for Women in Endoscopy

The Program is complimentary and will be held in the English language.

Women in Endoscopy has a core mission to help promote women in the field of endoscopy through education, professional growth, and leadership development. Endoscopy on Air shares this vision in creating diversity and equity among endoscopists around the world using a state-of-the are global virtual platform.

Working together with our industry ally, Boston Scientific, WIE and EOA are launching a unique mentorship program that focuses on the endoscopic skills within interventional endoscopy, as well as development of leadership competency skills that will allow participants to start programs and become leaders in their institutions or open doors for new opportunities.


Program Details

The second edition of our successful Mentorship Program for Women in Endoscopy!

We will focus mostly (but not only) on the hepatobiliary aspect of interventional endoscopy and geographically will work with mentees from the Europe, Middle East and African regions (EMEA). We aim to bring together the most renowned hepatobilliary physicians to share their experiences, clinical knowledge and future perspectives with a group of early career women endoscopists, creating the initial wave of what is meant to be a long-term initiative to drive systemic change.

Areas of Interest (topics of the general sessions):

ERCP-related:

1) Basics of ERCP (indications, imaging, cannulation, cholangiogram interpretation and anatomy, sampling, stenting, dilation, etc.) & Post ERCP complication prevention and management- pancreatitis, bleeding, perforation.

2) Complex ERCP: Cholangioscopy (indications and tips), Hilar strictures, altered anatomy

3) EUS guided ERCP

EUS-related:

1) EUS basics: anatomy and stations, indications, ultrasound principles including elastography and contrast, fna/fnb bx techniques

2) EUS-guided drainage -collections, GB

3) Interventional EUS- ERCP, GJ

Colonoscopy related:

1) Colonoscopy best practices with respect to techniques, quality metrics, ergonomics

2) Difficult colon- techniques, tools, complication management

3) Advanced resection techniques- mostly EMR, intro ESD/hybrid/FTR

Structure

  • Duration: April 2025 – February 2026
  • Available Seats: 12
  • Mentee-Mentors Ratio: 1:2
  • Online part: 1 group meeting per month + 2  individual 1:1 mentor-mentee meetings per month
  • Onsite part: First group meeting in Barcelona in the week of ESGE days (April 2-5, 2025). The first onsite meeting will feature: program introduction, workshops, clinical cases presentations and sessions on how to improve colonoscopy performance, ERCP, basic skills in EUS, gaming and testing, understanding your value, how to broaden your network, interviews with the experts, and much more. Last group meeting to be held in Madrid at Boston Scientific facility (November 12-14, 2025).

The exact and detailed schedule of the online and onsite meetings will be provided to the selected mentees before the corresponding dates.

Who is Eligible?

Female HCPs who:

  • Are fluent in English
  • Have finished their residency program in the last 5 years (with national accreditation/diploma as a certified specialist in Gastroenterology and Hepatology)
  • Practice in Europe, Middle East and African regions (EMEA)
  • ⁠Participation in dedicated training or programs focused on interventional endoscopy is preferred
  • Encouraged publication of papers in peer-reviewed journals
  • Can provide a recommendation letter from faculty members or professionals of the facility where they are practicing, attesting to their clinical skills, work ethic, and dedication
  • Will provide a cover letter/personal statement expressing their interest in advanced endoscopy as well as career goals, and reasons for applying to this specific mentorship program
  • Are able to fully commit to all the activities and expectations of the program including online and in-person meetings for the full duration of the program.
