Sundeep Lakhtakia is the Director of Endoscopy & EUS, at prestigious Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad, India. He has interest in Clinical Gastroenterology & Endoscopic interventions.
He completed MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi; MD (Internal Medicine) from PGIMER, Chandigarh; and DM (Gastroenterology fellowship) from SGPGIMS, Lucknow.
He is the current President of the ‘Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India’(SGEI) after completing successful 3 years as the Secretary General. He is vice-chairman of International Committee of American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and steering committee member of “Asian EUS Group”.
He has more than 170 original publications in international & national indexed journals along with several book chapters. He has co-authored several current guidelines in Pancreato-Biliary EUS & Endoscopy in Asia and Europe. He is a peer reviewer in many indexed national and international journals. He is an invited expert, including live courses, for major international and national endoscopy conferences. He has received numerous awards and scholarships during his academic career, including prestigious “Young Investigator Award” at Asia Pacific Digestive Week at Philippines in 2006.
He was awarded Fellowship of American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE) in 2014, Fellowship of American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) in 2020 and Fellowship of Japanese Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (FJGES) in 2021. He is an adjunct faculty at Johns Hopkins University, USA, and a visiting professor to University of Medicine, Mandalay, Myanmar since 2016.
