Pierfrancesco Visaggi is a Gastroenterology Fellow and a PhD Candidate at the University of Pisa, Italy, where he also works as digestive endoscopist. In addition, he is a Honorary Research Fellow at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital in London, United Kingdom. He currently serves as Trainee Editor for Neurogastroenterology and Motility Journal, which is the official journal of the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society (ANMS) and the European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (ESNM).
His main research focus revolves around upper gastrointestinal diseases. Specifically, he is interested in esophageal diseases including eosinophilic esophagitis, eosinophilic gastroenteritis, gastroesophageal reflux disease spectrum, and disorders of esophageal motility.
He is the co-first author of the Italian guidelines on the management of eosinophilic esophagitis (in production as of November 2023) and has been or is currently involved in the development of other national or international guidelines on gastroesophageal reflux disease (national), dysphagia (international), and gastroesophageal diagnostic workup before bariatric procedures (international). He also serves as member of the steering committee of the Italian Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (SINGEM) and of the Italian Association of Young Gastroenterologists and Endoscopists (AGGEI).
