Esmeralda Capristo is an Associate Professor of Nutritional Sciences at Catholic University of the Sacred Heart and works at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS. She earned her medical degree in 1994, specialized in Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases, and completed postdoctoral training in Nutrition and Metabolism.
She has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and trained at Columbia University in the Weight Control Unit led by Steven B. Heymsfield.
Her research focuses on nutritional assessment, energy metabolism, body composition, and insulin sensitivity in patients with malnutrition, gastrointestinal disorders, liver disease, eating disorders, and alcohol dependence. She is also an active member of leading Italian, European, and American nutrition and gastroenterology societies.
