Dr. Thierry Ponchon is a hepato-gastroenterologist who graduated from the University of Medicine in Lyon (France) and began his residency (1987) at Edouard Herriot University Hospital and where he continued his career until the mid-nineties performing various functions. There he held the positions of a doctor, gastroenterologist, professor of medicine, and Head of the Gastroenterology Unit. Convinced that research is important within medicine, he contributed his knowledge in the area with the development of studies. This is how he would become a researcher and Associate Member of INSERM, the only French scientific public research organization devoted 100% to human health.
