Seth Gross

Title: MD
Position: Clinical Chief
Organization: Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, NYU Langone Health
Country: USA

Dr. Seth Gross was attracted to gastroenterology because he recognized the opportunity to help people with complex illnesses, such as gastrointestinal cancers, by performing procedures and providing ongoing clinical care. Having experienced the impact of his grandfather’s battle with colon cancer, Dr. Gross was also motivated to raise awareness about colon cancer screenings and prevention.

As a gastroenterologist and advanced endoscopist, Dr. Gross specializes in screening for cancer and diagnosing and treating complex gastrointestinal conditions, including cancers, precancerous conditions, and difficult-to-identify gastrointestinal bleeding.

He performs a variety of endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, and double balloon enteroscopy. Additionally, he conducts endoscopic procedures for Barrett’s esophagus, such as radiofrequency ablation and cryoablation. In his research, Dr. Gross evaluates new technologies aimed at improving the ability to screen for, diagnose, and treat cancerous and precancerous gastrointestinal conditions.

Dr. Gross is a strong advocate for preventive care and encourages individuals to take charge of their health, including getting screened for colorectal cancer before symptoms arise. When people feel unwell, he advises them to trust their instincts—and their guts—and seek medical attention. Finally, in the face of a serious diagnosis, Dr. Gross encourages patients not to be discouraged by negative statistics. He believes there is always hope and always options. Whatever the challenge, Dr. Gross is committed to helping his patients navigate their journey toward recovery.
