Dr. Sachin Wani is the Katy O. and Paul M. Rady Endowed Chair in Esophageal Cancer Research and a Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, specializing in esophageal diseases and therapeutic endoscopy. He is internationally recognized for his work in Barrett’s esophagus and esophageal adenocarcinoma.
Dr. Wani has led impactful research over the past decade, including studies on the natural history of Barrett’s, the safety and efficacy of endoscopic eradication therapies, the development of quality metrics through the TREAT-BE Consortium, and advancements in screening tools like the Cytosponge. He has also authored national guidelines for ASGE and AGA on Barrett’s management.
As Executive Director of the Katy O. and Paul M. Rady Esophageal and Gastric Center of Excellence, he oversees a multidisciplinary clinic that has evaluated over 1,000 patients with esophageal and gastric conditions, providing the infrastructure for several research programs.
Dr. Wani serves on multiple national GI committees and recently chaired the ASGE Standards of Practice Committee. He has received numerous accolades, including the AGA Future Leader in Gastroenterology and several prestigious research awards. His work has been widely published and presented internationally.
He currently leads major NIH-funded trials, including the SURVENT and SWAT-BE studies, and brings deep expertise in conducting multicenter, collaborative research in esophageal disease.
