Dr. M. Pizzicannella is a general surgeon specializing in diagnostic and operative digestive endoscopy. She has been working in the endoscopy department at Cardinal Panico Hospital in Tricase since 2021. She is also a PhD student at the University of Strasbourg with a thesis focused on studying the movement of the endoscopist during upper gastrointestinal endoscopy to create a simulator for teaching purposes. She entered the residency program at the University Campus Bio-Medico in Rome in the department of endoscopy ( Chief Dr. Di Matteo). Here she started learning advanced endoscopic techniques such as ESD, EUS and ERCP. During her residency, she did a 6-month fellowship at the Pauli Calmette Hospital in Marseille in the digestive endoscopy unit of Dr. Marc Giovannini (2018). Under Dr. Giovannini’s guidance, she improved her knowledge of EUS and ERCP. From 2019 to 2020, she worked as a fellow at the Institute of Image Guided Surgery in Strasbourg under the guidance of Professor S. Perretta. Her fields of interest are biliopancreatic endoscopy (EUS, ERCP), EMR, ESD and bariatric endoscopy. She is a faculty member of second-level masters, masterclasses and university diplomas in endoscopy organized by the Ihu of Strasbourg in collaboration with the University of Strasbourg. She is the author of more than 50 articles about
operative digestive endoscopy and image-guided surgery published in peer-reviewed journals and 4 book chapters.
