Hannes Seibt studied Computer Visualistics focusing on medical visualization. He wrote his master’s thesis about an interactive machine learning approach for early detection of breast cancer in large histopathological slides. He joined PENTAX Medical in 2018 as a software engineer at ‘Digital Endoscopy’, an R&D innovation center of PENTAX Medical, where he was involved in the development of an AI-based polyp detection algorithm for lower GI, later to be launched as the Discovery AI – PENTAX Medical’s polyp detector device. After the market introduction of the Discovery AI, he continued to build an infrastructure for AI development within the R&D and later developed from his regional role, as he became responsible for the AI segment and digital solutions at PENTAX Medical as the global product manager.
