Giovanna Impellizzeri

I was born in Giarre in 1988. I graduated in Medicine in 2015 at the University of Catania, Italy. I trained in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy in Bologna, Italy, in November 2020. During the Gastroenterology training, carried out entirely at the Sant’Orsola-Malpighi University Hospital of Bologna, I was able to reach an extensive clinical experience by working in the departments of Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine and in the Emergency Unit.

In those crucial years, I developed a strong interest, especially in endoscopy. I became independent in performing diagnostic endoscopy and I started training in interventional endoscopy. I also had the opportunity to start training in biliopancreatic endoscopy (diagnostic and interventional endoscopic ultrasound and ERCP), which is my main field of interest.

Since July 2020 I have been working as Specialist Gastroenterologist at the Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Unit of the Azienda USL Modena, directed by Dr. Mauro Manno. Here I have been performing diagnostic and interventional digestive endoscopy, emergency endoscopy, abdominal ultrasound, clinical activity and General Gastroenterology outpatient activity. Currently the activity which I find most interesting in my clinical practice is interventional endoscopy, where I have been doing increasingly complex endoscopic mucosal resections (EMRs) and I have been training in diagnostic and interventional endoscopic ultrasound and in biliary interventional
endoscopy.

I am a member of the main Italian (SIED, SIGE, AIGO) and European (ESGE) scientific societies of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy.
