Dr. Gianpiero Manes, born in Naples in 1964, graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery in 1988 at the Federico II University of Naples. He specialized in Internal Medicine in Naples in 1993 and in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy in Magdeburg, Germany, in 1997 and Naples in 1998.
In 1991 he received a scholarship from the German foundation “DAAD” (Deutsche Akademische Austauschdienst) with which he worked for a year, from 1991 to 1992, in the Department of Internal Medicine 1 – Gastroenterology of the University of Ulm, Germany, directed by prof. H. Ditschuneheit,
In 1995 he received a new scholarship from the German foundation “Alexander von Humboldt” in the Department of Gastroenterology and Infectious Diseases of the University of Magdeburg, Germany, director prof. P. Malfertheiner, where he worked from 1995 to 1997.
From 1998 to 2005 he worked at the Gastroenterology Department of the Cardarelli hospital in Naples, where he was responsible for the Simple Operating Unit of “Diagnosis and endoscopic therapy of bilio-pancreatic pathology”.
From 2005 to 2013 he worked at the Department of Gastroenterology of the Luigi Sacco University Hospital in Milan, directed by prof. G. Bianchi Porro, where he was in charge of the Departmental Operative Unit of Digestive Endoscopy.
Since 2014 he has been head of the Gastroenterology Complex Operating Unit of the ASST Rhodense, of the deans of Rho, Garbagnate Milanese and Bollate.
Dr. Manes was a professor at the School of Specialization in Gastroenterology of the University of Milan until 2014 and is currently a professor at the University of Pavia.
President until 2014 of the Lombardy Section of the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED), he is currently a member of the scientific committee of the Italian Federation of Digestive Diseases (FISMAD) and a member of the committee for the drafting of guidelines of the European Society of Digestive Endoscopy (ESGE ).
