Dr Amit Maydeo is a Gastroenterologist and endoscopy expert known for his pioneering efforts on therapeutic endoscopy and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). He was honoured by the Government of India, in 2013, by bestowing on him the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, for his contributions to the fields of medicine and medical education.

Dr. Amit Maydeo has 28 years experience in clinical practice. He is pioneer of GI Endoscopy in India, also he is a Visiting Professor – PGI, Chandigarh and Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. He has pioneered interventional GI Endoscopy in India and the POEM procedure for Achalasia in India. He has an extensive range of original works and large experience in endoscopic treatment of chronic pancreatitis, bleeding varices, CBD stones.

He is part of International Editorial Board – Journal of the American Society for GI Endoscopy. One of the first doctors to implement and use Video-Endoscopy and Interventional Endoscopy in India. Dr. Amit Maydeo is past President of the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India President – Association of Interventional GI Endoscopy of India, he is presently President of the Indian college of Endoscopy Editorial board – GIE & Endoscopy Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG) Association of Surgeons of India (ASI).
