He received his Scientific High School Diploma in 1974 from the Liceo Scientifico Statale “A. Calini” in Brescia with a final grade of 60/60 . He enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan in November 1974. During the V and VI years of the course he attended as an Internal Student the III Chair of Special Surgical Pathology and Clinical Propedeutics of the University of Parma, based in Brescia, directed by Prof. L. Lojacono. In October 1980, he received the Degree in Medicine and Surgery with highest honors from the University of Milan (Dissertation entitled: “Validity of transverse teniomyotomy in the surgical therapy of diverticular disease of the sigma. Remote results”). He passed the State Examination in the second session in 1980 (November) at the University of Modena and was licensed to practice as a Medical Surgeon. He has been a member of the Medical Association of the Province of Brescia since December 1980. During the period April 1-September 30, 1981, he served a favorable hospital internship in the discipline of General Surgery at the Institute of Special Surgical Pathology and Clinical Propaedeutics of the University of Brescia, directed by Prof. L. Lojacono (I General Surgery – Spedali Civili di Brescia), reporting a rating of excellent. He attended the I Division of General Surgery of the Spedali Civili of Brescia from Nov. 1, 1984 to May 1, 1985 for the purpose of further training.

Since March 1986 he has been serving as University Researcher for Discipline Group No. 61 at the Predepartmental Operating Unit “Surgical Pathology” of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Brescia – Chair of General Surgery II, directed by Prof. L. Lojacono. Effective March 1989, he was confirmed in the role of University Researcher for Discipline Group No. 61 at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, University of Brescia. As of March 31, 2001, he was reinstated in the Scientific Disciplinary Sector MED/18 General Surgery. He obtained at the University of Parma on 06/30/1986 the Diploma of Specialist in General Surgery with a final grade of 50/fifty (Specialization Thesis entitled “Validity of anterior hemifundoplicatio secondo Dor in the surgical treatment of jatal hernia”). He received the Diploma of Specialist in Surgery of the Digestive System and Surgical Digestive Endoscopy from the University of Brescia on November 12, 1992 with a final grade of 50/50 cum laude (Specialization Thesis entitled : “The dysfunctions of the sphincter of Oddi”).

Appointed Chairman of the National Commission of the Society of Endoscopy (surgical area) (ISSE) for the establishment of the “Endoscopic Complications Registry” in February 2005. Appointed Secretary of the Commission of the Lombardy Section of the Society of Endoscopy (surgical area) (ISSE) “The percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy” in February 2005. From 01.10.2006 appointment as Associate Professor for the scientific disciplinary field MED/18 “General Surgery” at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Brescia, DR n°1367 of 25.09.2006. As of 01.10.2009 confirmation in the role of Associate Professor pursuant to Art. 78 of T.U. 31.8.33, no. 1592 and Art. 6 and 23 of Presidential Decree 382/80 at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Brescia with DR 666 of 19.04.2010.
